Another 'Face' Discovered On Mars!

Mars Happy Face.jpg (11765 bytes) 15-03-99

Hello AIG members

Last week, the Mars Global Surveyor (a satellite orbiting planet Mars) photographed what appears to be another 'face' on the surface of Mars.

As you will see from the attached photograph, this one is a much happier face than the last one!

Psychologists long ago discovered that our minds are 'hard-wired' to recognize faces. We are social creatures, being born into families, and the immediate establishment of mental connections with our parents and other family members is imperative to our survival.

It is no surprise then that lying on our backs on a fluffy, cloudy day, we see far more 'faces' in the clouds than anything else. And it's no surprise that we are seeing craters and rock formations that look like faces to us on the surface of Mars, a planet we are getting to know very well.

It's all happening in our minds.

As far as we know, there are no deliberately-created faces on the surface of Mars. Yet because of our psychological make-up, we are bound to 'see' many more...........

And it's because of similar psychological reasons that we humans think we 'see' so many other things in life.........

It's important we know such things about our minds, don't you think?
