Braai & Starry Sky

03-10-99

Greetings AIG members

You are invited to an astronomy braai this coming Thursday evening (October 7th).

Our hosts will be the University Astronomy Society, and members of all three Durban astronomy groups (and their friends) are invited.

We will be providing fires & charcoal - just bring your own food and drink; as well as deck chairs, telescopes, binoculars, warm clothes, enthusiasm and an interest in the magnificence of the Universe....

It will be a moonless night, so viewing should be very good if we have clear skies. Please cover your torches with red cellophane if you can.

Through the telescopes we should see close-ups of at least three planets (including Saturn and its rings), as well as colourful individual stars, and both compact and loose clusters of extremely distant stars. Of course there should also be satellites and shooting stars aplenty.

Date: Thursday 7th October
Time: 7PM onwards
Venue: University Athletic Grounds, Francois Rd (opposite side of the road, and below, the Old Mutual Sports Hall)

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Regards

Mario Di Maggio
