SAAO Special Guests

18-08-99

Hello everyone

At this week's University of Natal Astronomy Society meeting we will be privileged to enjoy a presentation by astronomers from the South African Astronomical Observatory (SAAO).

You may be aware that over the next five years South Africa will build the largest single telescope in the southern hemisphere - the South Africa Large Telescope (SALT). Attached is an image of the proposed SALT, superimposed on a photo of the existing SA Astronomical Observatory in Sutherland, near Cape Town.
