Successful Halloween Party!

31-10-99

Hello Friends Society members (and others currently missing out.... :-)

You will be happy to hear that last night's Halloween Family Event organized by the Bat & Astronomy Interest Groups at the Natural Science Museum was a GREAT SUCCESS!

The 53 adults and 22 children that attended our fund-raiser enjoyed a colourful, vibrant and entertaining evening filled with fun and surprises.....right from the beginning.

After a gripping 'outer space' presentation & description of the DNA kit prize, the guests enjoyed a fine meal in wonderfully decorated museum surroundings (see attached images).

The Fashion Parade gave the numerous guests dressed in fascinating and elaborate costumes the opportunity to show their stuff to the judges.

John Craigie & Michelle Hamilton won first prize in the adult category with their batty, white-hatted witch outfits; and Wendy Greef come in second wearing an ingenious haunted house! (see more images in following e-mail).

A surprise dance & fire-eating performance by Dianne Hofland was the highlight of the evening for many - thank you Dianne!

The winners in the children's category were Robin, next a nameless little girl, and then Ziphidle in that order - yet it must be noted that ALL the children and most of the adults were very attractively dressed, adding richly to the atmosphere of the Halloween evening.

It goes without saying that much effort was put into this fund-raiser by Museum staff, Friends members and of course the costumed guests - and so a VERY BIG THANK YOU goes out to everyone involved!

Look out for a short article with more photos in next month's newsletter.

Regards

Mario Di Maggio
